Mother's Day is fast approaching, so here's a nagging reminder that you should send your mother a card. Fortunately for you, Apple updated its Cards app to include Mother's Day templates, so now would be a good opportunity to put something together right from your iPhone and send it off, without worrying about going to the store or having to go to the post office.

Now, Cards does take awhile to send from the Apple printers, so we'd suggest you hunker down, take out your iPhone, and get to card sending! Continue reading for some tips on making your Mom a card, or any card for any season.

What You'll Need

1. Pick a design

What's your flavor? Standard, cutesy picture of you and your Ma as the cover photo? Or how about expressing your gratitude with a simple "Thank You" card for all that your mother has done for you? Apple's got 28 designs for you to choose from, some with pre-written messages on the inside, which is perfect for those of you who are just

2. Say something nice, add a picture

Once you've picked your card, get to customizing it. Hold down on a picture to pick one from your Photo Stream or Camera Roll. If you don't have a picture of you and your mother handy, pick a cute graphic, or take a Photo Booth picture of you making a heart out of your hands, like I did. That's the most creative thing I could think of at the moment. I know my Mom will love it.

After you've picked your photo, you can either stick with the default text (The original said "I don't know what I'd do without you") or add your own words. You could even include a joke, or a line from a poem about motherly love.

3. Send it off!

When you're ready, select "Envelope" to put in your mom's address and the return address. I found out that putting "SF" won't register as an actual address with Cards, so no fancy abbreviations for the city you live in. Afterward, the app will ask you to input your iTunes account password, charge your account $2.99, and send your mom a fancy card! Per our past experiences, it typically takes two weeks to send the card, but it's never too early to tell your mom how much you love her!
