If you're serious about your personal finances, you've no doubt discovered the free web service, Mint.com. The company has gradually been porting its wide variety of features to the companion iOS apps, today introducing budgeting and splitting transaction for both iPhone and iPad.
The Mint Life blog is announcing the availability of an update to the free Mint.com app for iOS. After installing the latest version 2.4, Mint users will be able to create new budgets and edit existing budgets while on the go, split a single transaction into multiple categories and enjoy fewer bugs while using the app.
"Mint users, we've heard you loud and clear," the company writes. "Two of your most requested features -- budgeting and splitting transactions -- are now available on your Mint.com iPad and iPhone apps. Now, you can create and edit budgets and split transactions, enabling you to have more control over your finances wherever you go!
"Want to see how you've performed against your budget?" the blog post asks. "No problem -- our budgeting feature allows you to track your budget habits over the past six months -- from anywhere. Plus, create and edit budgets directly on your mobile device. Now, you can decide whether a new purchase will set your budget off track, while you're still in the store."
The Mint.com iOS app also allows users to split a single transaction over multiple categories, all before even leaving the store.
"Did you just go on a big shopping trip to the local mega-mart?" the blog ponders. "No worries -- these new features allow you to split that transaction, so you can clearly see how much was spent on what -- all from the palm of your hand. Slick new touch mechanics allow you to fine-tune your budget incrementally."
Mint.com for iOS 2.4 is now available from the App Store as an 11.8MB download; the free, universal app is compatible with all devices running iOS 5.0 or later.
