AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (Force = Mass x Acceleration) Review

If you can't tell by the audacity of its excessively vowel-laden title, AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (Force = Mass x Acceleration) is a game built on a firm foundation of utter wackiness. Hurling yourself off the top of futuristic skyscrapers high above a futuristic Boston cityscape is an adrenaline-fueled ride filled with poultry smashing, obscene gesture deployment, and airborne graffiti. This off-the-wall skydiving simulator is unlike anything else you'll find on the App Store, and that's a good thing.

With each jump, you weave and dodge your way through dizzying networks of jutting structures, colorful score plates, and spiraling obstacles in a first-person perspective. Using the iPad's gyroscopic tilt sensors to steer is a responsive, intuitive way to play, though it makes it tough to log extended sessions due to inevitable neck cramps that set in from looking down for long periods of time. Though it may be a pain in the neck at times, Aaaaa is still loads of fun, and loaded with funny, in short bursts.

Risky maneuvering earns you "hugs" and "kisses" for staying close to structures as you fall, and narrowly avoiding death as you barrel downward into tight spots is a real thrill – assuming you live to tally your score. Making it to the bottom alive and deploying your chute in time to avoid breaking your legs earns you human teeth based on your performance. This macabre currency is spent to unlock new stages, special moves, and some truly eccentric extras like guided meditations and family recipes.

Amusing power-ups in later stages let you boost your score by flipping off protestors or spray painting buildings on the way down, and even the level descriptions themselves are laugh-inducing. Dejobaan Games' warped humor permeates every facet of Aaaa's design, and it's all the more entertaining for it.

The bottom line. Aaaaa is easily one of the quirkier indie offerings on the App Store, but its intense gameplay balances nicely with sheer absurdity to make for an unforgettable ride.
