Apr 23rd 2012, 15:42

So, you accidentally change the default language on your Apple device, and now you can't even find your way around to change the settings back? Instead of trying to learn Pig Latin, why not just reset the language to your preferred language instead? After reading this article, and with a few clicks around, we'll have you back to normal.

Reset Language on a Click Wheel iPod

If you have a click wheel-based iPod, then resetting the language is fairly simple. You'll want to follow these steps to switch back to your default language:

1. Go to the main menu by pressing Menu until "iPod" is displayed in the title bar.
2. Scroll down to the last menu item, not selecting it.
3. Scroll up one item and select it by pressing the center button. This will be the Settings menu item.
4. Scroll down to the last menu item ("Reset All Settings"), but don't select it.
5. Scroll up to the third menu item from the bottom, and press the center button. This should be Languages.
6. Select your preferred language, and then press the center button to select.

After a few seconds, your preferred language will be switched to the default language on the device.

If you have an older iPod (iPhoto photo, or monochrome iPod), check out this Apple support article for the specifics on your device.
